Still life has become my quietest, most domestic body of work — often painted in stolen moments at home, close to the everyday objects and small scenes of motherhood. It's always a way to mark something: the turn of a season, birthday flowers, a small moment in the day that might otherwise pass unnoticed. There's a particular intimacy in painting what's right in front of you.
