Loose Landscapes

Discover a day in Laura Gee’s studio where loose landscapes come alive , guided, intuitive, and entirely your own.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to translate a memorable place into a painting that captures feeling rather than detail. Bring a landscape that matters to you - a childhood riverbank, a beach at dusk, a hillside that shifted something inside you , a photo from holiday and we’ll explore how to turn those memories into colour, texture and movement. If you don’t have a specific landscape reference Laura will have landscape options to choose from and we ca create an imagined piece with intention and feeling.

What we’ll do:

  • Reflect on your chosen landscape: identify the sensations, light and atmosphere that make it special.

  • Develop a feeling-led colour palette: learn how to mix evocative tones that convey mood rather than literal accuracy.

  • Experiment with mark-making: discover simple gestures, layering and tools to suggest space, form and energy.

  • Build a loose landscape: combine palette and marks into a cohesive piece that feels alive and true to your memory.

  • Personal guidance: tailored feedback from Laura to help you loosen up, trust instinct and make bold choices.
