A project in response to Laura's maternal mental health challenges , finding beauty in the everyday mothering and everyday encounters with nature.
Love Letter To Everyday explores what we notice and what goes unnoticed, the mundane, daily life, caring responsibilities and creativity and the beauty within this. It explores the idea that whatever you are feeling is reflected back at you in nature.
This ongoing project is a response to being a mother and an artist, and a way to escape and celebrate the daily tasks and joy within it.
“walking around with the pram I looked at the ground, at things people walked by, perhaps it was my sleep deprivation, but that petal had never looked so beautiful on the grey sludge of a day , with white noise whirling and the mental load of motherhood i photographed and videoed it. Everyday encounters with tiny moments of nature. At the same time my daughters were growing as the same path I walked everyday changed, the petal my baby could not see was now stamped under her little wellies, as my eldest picked it up for me to keep later ‘ mummy take a photo and paint it’. I am yet to paint it but I have taken the photo and the petal you gave me has since disintegrated”
